Playaz Club is an annual summer hoops shootout program hosted at Section 8 in Melbourne. Each week players play a knockout-style tournament to the tune of MCs and rotating DJs, competing for weekly prizes from streetwear and alcohol sponsors and ultimately, a branded championship ring in the final round. We worked with Section 8 to craft the program’s 2026 identity. The direction was designed to be simple and street, something that wouldn’t look out of place as a Brooklyn graffiti piece, or as part of a Nike Air Max campaign in 1995. Hero illustration work was paired an LED scoreboard-inspired logo, with similar dot matrix-style typography counter-balancing the bold lead identity elements. The program ran throughout summer, and don’t ask anyone about our shootout performance. Think Space Jam after their talent was stolen.
