Finance is consistently tagged as one of the world's most boring industries, and many small business owners would agree. Enter Finance Department, a new service designed to take the boring common finance tasks off the plate of sole traders, small business owners and overstretched accounting firms. Think payroll management, compliance, reporting and more. We were asked to create a simple identity that positioned the platform at the entry point of the market while offering a degree of self-awareness. Something buttoned-up and contemporary, but also something approachable. Something that would speak to the individual business owner, but also an accounting firm looking to outsource.

A concise identity and launch website, built upon a base of self-awareness. The identity was designed to be professional, scalable and clear in its offering with numerous nods to its subject matter, or bread and butter. We're talking a conversational tone of voice paired with a functional, no-frills type structure, and colour palette led by delicious corporate blue. The identity was also built with a visual language system of spreadsheet cell linework, a nod to the software and world Finance Department's team live, breathe and operate in.
